Privacy Policy

We don't want your data.
So we don't collect it.

This policy explains, plainly, what F2F-Folio does and does not do with your information. For the technical detail behind these claims — encryption, key derivation, exact network calls — see the Security & Privacy page.

Effective October 1, 2026

1. Who this policy covers

F2F-Folio is a desktop application published by Fire2Freedom ("we", "us"). This policy applies to the F2F-Folio desktop app and to fire2freedom.com. It does not cover third-party services you choose to connect (your broker, for example) — their own privacy policies govern how they handle your data once it reaches them.

2. What F2F-Folio never collects

F2F-Folio has no backend server, no user accounts, and no analytics SDK. We do not collect, receive, or have access to:

  • Your holdings, transactions, or imported CSV/broker data
  • Your PIN, passphrase, or any derived encryption key
  • Notes, goals, or any manually entered content
  • Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind
  • Your IP address, device identifiers, or browsing behavior inside the app

This isn't a policy promise alone — there is no server for this data to travel to. Everything the app stores lives on your own machine, encrypted at rest when PIN lock is enabled. See the Security page for exactly how (AES-256-GCM, PBKDF2-SHA256).

3. The network calls the app does make

F2F-Folio only talks to the network for things you explicitly asked it to do:

  • Price lookups — ticker symbols only (never your quantities or holdings). Version 0.54 and later send them only to Yahoo Finance and OpenFIGI (which turns an ISIN into a ticker); nothing goes through any relay. Versions up to 0.53 also use Stooq as a fallback and, when Yahoo is unreachable directly, can fall back through a public CORS relay (allorigins.win, corsproxy.io, codetabs.com, thingproxy.freeboard.io) that sees the ticker symbol only.
  • Broker sync, only if you set one up — Interactive Brokers and Trading 212 are contacted directly with your own broker credential. That credential never routes through the relay above; if the direct connection fails, the sync fails rather than falling back.
  • License activation — verified offline on your own machine from an Ed25519 signature. No license server is contacted.

4. Data you export yourself

The app's Backup feature lets you export your holdings, transactions, and profile as a JSON file under your own control. That file is not encrypted even if PIN lock is enabled in the app — treat it like a bank statement PDF. We never see or receive a copy of this export; it goes wherever you choose to save it.

5. The marketing website (fire2freedom.com)

Pages like this one are static and do not run analytics or tracking scripts. If you email us (support@fire2freedom.com), we retain that correspondence only as needed to respond and for basic support recordkeeping.

6. Children's privacy

F2F-Folio is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Because the app itself has no mechanism to collect your contact details, we cannot notify you directly — check back here, or the in-app EULA, for the current version.
